Outstanding:- light in weight, heavy in quality

I was amazed in the comfort and quality of this boot. It's everything you want in a winter boot. Light weight, Quick and easy lacing, perfect temperture indoor and out, 100% waterproof and Great traction. Plus the Red Wing shoe service promise such as laces for life and cleaning and conditioning for life (at Red Wing Stores). They are not big & bulky and have a built in odor inhibitor. At age 55, I don't have the best circulation in my feet, but no problem keeping my feet warm with these. Their design is such that they are just roomy enough in the foot area and taper closer toward the top to hold heat in. So forget about Baffin and Sorels. These are the best boots you can get, hands down. The entire Irish Setter line is very impressive (for ladies too). Amazon ships the quickest as usual. I found that 1/2 size larger in the Snow Claw XT fits perfectly.

I work in Antarctica under some of the most unforgiving weather conditions imaginable. I have purchased and worn many different brands of boots and have to say that these boots are the best boots I have ever worn. At 50 below zero, with regular socks, my feet have never felt the cold. They are extremely light weight and feel like a very heavy pair of socks. The soles are extremely aggressive and are excellent in ice and snow. I do not recommend them as a safety boot or to be worn in rock or dirt. They are not designed for that type of abuse. But cold snow and ice...they can't be beat. They also breathe so that your feet don't over heat. I paid $85 for these and feel that it was one of the best purchases I have ever made. You won't be disappointed.

I have to say I am impressed by this boot - super soft and comfortable and incredibly warm. What I read about the boot running small is true - I am normally a 10.5 and I ordered an 11.5. With a nice wool sock on, this will fit great. You would be hard pressed to find a better boot for cold-weather activities.
