great boots!

Im wearing them right now and they r saving me from.the cold cold weatherof NY. They feel great. Really warm. Be careful with the size! I'm usually a 12 but decidedto get a 13 just in case, and ended up fitting perfectly! A 12 wouldn'thave fitted!

Solidly built shoe

You can expect nothing less than great quality from Columbia. Very well built. Feels and looks solid.Also, I can attest that it works in snow as well. My feet were warm and I was not slipping all over the place.Really worth the money I would say for me atleast because I slipped last year and injured my knee badly. Hopefully, this pair of shoes will prevent that from happening again.

Very comfortable and well made. Look great too.

There is nothing but good things to say about these boots. Over the last twelve years I've owned six different pairs (four desert and two black), and they've all been exceptional:+ Durable. The first and only thing to ever wear out on these is the sole. You can't really fault Altama when you wear through the bottoms. Some people even resole them when that happens, and get another life out of them, but I usually just start fresh. The one time I did resole them, I eventually got some cracking in the leather around the forefoot long into the second life of the boots.+ Comfortable. Right out of the box, these boots are really comfortable. The most comfortable combat boots that there are for warm weather. For running or for really long foot marches, you can put in a "aftermarket" insole, either to replace the one that comes from Altama or on top of it. Even without changing the insole, they are really comfortable.+ Lightweight. These are well-made, heavy-duty, boots, but they are also the lightest MILSPEC combat boots that you will find. I think the reason, is that so much of them is fabric, instead of leather, but either way, on long movements, your legs will thank you for the ounces that these boots shave off compared to most combat boots.+ Tread pattern. The tread is pretty basic on these boots, but it does the job. Some boots with aggressive looking soles end up getting clumped full of mud. When that happens, those boots weigh a ton. You are much better off with the less attractive, but just as functional Altama pattern.+ Made in USA. Every pair of these that I've gotten has been made in America.+ Look. These boots always look good. The black ones hold a shine very well, and the desert ones don't require any maintenance at all. Either way you go, they are a great looking boot with a lot of character.I highly recommend that you consider these boots.

Lotta Boot for the Buck!

The 9" Altama Mil. Spec. boot is a great buy. They are well made, comfortable, rugged and they look cool. The shipping was very fast, they had all the sizes to choose from and I even received a very nice free Altama T-shirt. I looked every where for these boots and Amazon had just what I was looking for at a great price!

Great hotweather boot for rough ground

Based on about 10 days of day hikes over rocky ground, this is a great boot. Cool in the sun, and aggressive tread holds on rocks. A little loose fitting in the heal at first, but it eventually broke in. Order your military size, which in my case in 1/2 size smaller than my jogging shoe size.

great shoe

I orginally bought 12W and when I tried them on they where too small. A return was seemless at no cost. when the 13W arrived I planned to use them only at work. They are so comfortable that I wear them on my days off. I definitely will buy another pair. Lots of support- a great shoe.

No so lite, no so speed but very good.

I got this one because two reasons, i read on the description "For brutal summers" and i was wanting for a cheap 6" boots. On my imagination i hope this gonna be just like oakley SI Assault but actually they are not. I live in Venezuela, so we do know what Brutal Summers means, and this boots is better keep it away from the Sun exposition or you'll be able to make hotdogs on your feets, they keep warm too much specially using a bulky socks, the upper leather get really hot. The sole have a really good traxion on mud, dry pavement and oil but have a weird slipy feeling on wet surfice just when is new and you are breaking them, eventually It would be fixed as your are walking them. Excelent waterproof shape through i can see.Very strong and durable components (don't trust people who claim no) very ligth and confortable but not for Hicking! Your feet will be tired quicly if you use them for another intention that is not as Combats boots. I see this more for a Tactical porpuse than patrol. Maybe i should buy the 8" version, cause the high top could help me to control the boot's weigth, instead this 6" high top pull my ankle down so i feel a bad blood circulation. A couple months after i got the Oakley SI assault black, in comparison Oakley would be a Cute useless Girl and Altama Litespeed be such of Rambo II lite version. I like this boot, and i would be glad to get other pairs but just in 8" Version. I would forget this 6" version cause that specific spec is worst than usefull. I Dont know about Exospeed, but i can risk myself to say, Exospeed is also a Cute girl.Im not police or military, but i should say they are Excelents for Policial Operations, raids, hot persuits, jumping from a patrol car, deployments, and kicking bad guys on a Wet warm Slum, very common on Venezuela. Not good for office job or patrol, so i don't recommend it for lettermen , this are not merrel.PD: 06/01/2011 : Most than 2 years later, i must accept they are the best boot i had on my life, they give me great stability and sureness, however now in venezuela we aren't on Dry time but Rainy and those boots are working flawless than never before, they eventually become so comfy that i used to be forced picking this pair or my Sports tennis asics shoes, when i know i have to load many boxes, cross a factory zone located in a mud or stone place and be comfy and fresh allday i already know what pair to get. However ankle keep felling weird.

I am a police manager and was looking for light, cooler boots to wear in the office. These fit nicely. Altama's web site recommended using fitting similar to jogging shoes. They were right on. I ordered a 1/2 size larger which allows nicely for medium weight socks. The boots breathe nicely. They are quite light, yet still comfortable. The pinching that at the ankle that another review noted went away after a couple days.
