UA Breech boots rock!

I love boots, the more practical the better. I liked the looks of the Breech from the start. Sure, my fast rope days are behind me but for such a fine looking pair of waterproof Gore-Tex boots, the price seemed right even without trying them on first.The size was true, I wear a 10 and they fit just great. Before wearing them outside I worked 3 coats of Kiwi polish into them; if I'm going to be wearing black leather, it had best bling. These take a beautiful shine. They are comparatively light and easy to run in, while still offering good ankle support and great traction.I've read other reviews of the Breech, a few not flattering. The negative reviews faulted the comfort of wearing them. I suspect the following two things of these reviewers; the first is that they've forgotten (or never known) what it feels like to break in a new pair of boots Basic Combat Training style. Really, you cannot expect a tactical boot to fit perfectly fresh out the box. These fit better out the box better than Bates, Belleville, Matterhorn etc. that I've known and loved, and are breaking in lovely.The second suspicion I have is that the negative reviewers didn't read the box; these are designed to be worn loose, can't-be-used-against-you-for-joint-locks loose. If you want skintight jungle boots, order those instead. These feel and work great untied. The thick padded tongue and other padding gives a great deal of leeway for how much sock you want to wear.Although not described as insulated, all that padding has an insulating effect. I'm wearing these in a Northern Michigan winter, not summer down south. With 2 pairs of socks (one poly, one wool) these do just fine for working outside in freezing temps. With the nice shine I've got on these, I wear them under jeans and they look classy, or at least like classy $#!^kickers.I'm very pleased with mine. I'll consider Under Armour for my footwear needs in the future.

I have worn these boots for a few days in the field, they are very light weight and have good traction. They do take a little to break in. The design of the soles is thought out well. The sole is of medium stiffness. I like them because I don't feel every rock pushing into my feet like softer tactical boots, yet they are not as stiff as traditional combat boots where you can't feel anything under your feet. These boots are good for all day hikes even with a 40lb load out on your back.
