What you need to know about Le Chameau
By Shop-a-holic
I tried 4x to find the best Le Chameau boots for me - thank you Amazon and Endless for your return policy. It's hard to fit Le Chameau boots so I am going to share with you my findings. First a bit about me - I am 5'2", 16" calf circumference, trim ankles, and 8.5 to 9 US feet. I tried the boots on with dress knee high boot socks.I was looking for a simple pair of rain boots. I couldn't try the popular women's Vierzon, Iris, or Air Confort Vierzon because the calf circumference was 15" or smaller. I narrowed my search into the men's version of the Vierzon, Vierzon Nord and Chasseur, and the women's Chassuer.Women's Chasseur - they have made these fit a women's shape so there is no extra room (very fitted). I zipped up until it hit the largest part of my calf and then I couldn't pull anymore. This was a size 40 euro and it fit my feet quite well. The finish of the boots is excellent. Ladies, if you have calves in 15" or less (or 39 cm circumference), these boots are going to make you look very very good in the rain and snow (trust me).Men's Vierzon and Vierzon Nord - the former is the basic boot and the latter is a winter version (made in Morocco). The calf area is huge at around 18". Pulled the buckle as far as I can and it was still too much. Very roomy in the toe box and up the leg area. Tried the smallest men size 8 US and it fits fine length-wise. The Vierzon Nord is quite the workout as it is very heavy (and hot!). Was not difficult to remove the boots but you did have to sit down to loosen the ankle. I would not recommend these to women as an alternative.Men's Chasseur - a tad roomier than the women's version with a 41cm calf circumference. The size 39 euro fits very well with enough room to wear thicker socks. Despite being the male version, it hit me just under the knee. I am keeping this pair.Overall, my impressions of the Chasseur boots:- the fit and finish is excellent (made in France) and I do not believe you will find anything like it- the colour is green but not repulsive green, like a dull khaki- the zipper is very difficult to pull up, you need silicon spray to ease it (included in the box), but makes it very easy to pull on and off the boots- the buckle is not just decorative, if you are too lazy to pull the zipper up all the way, you can just buckle the top and off you go- the boots do not open completely like a pair of dress boots - there is a leather fold that keeps the boots together. 41cm is a tad over 16" so if your calf is bigger, you will not fit the boots because there is no stretch (even with the combo of leather and natural rubber).- very expensive when compared to other rain boots, but you'll likely keep these for much longer because of the quality and classic look (personally, I do not see how anyone can destroy these boots)- toe box and ankle area is roomy for a woman so there is room to put in a thermal insole and wear thick socks- there is no slouch in the bottom half of the boots which makes you look good in them- bottom soles give you grip and traction- do not drive in these boots, the bottom soles make it difficult to "feel" the brake and gas pedals

best boots ever
By diva
The boots are beautifully constructed, look great and are comfortable. the zipper works easily unlike less expensive boots. The only caution is that they are narrow so they look and fit beautifully for a narrow calf and foot. I am not sure if it would fit a larger calf. I have thin calves and AA width in shoes and the fit is perfect for me. I love them.

The Best
By Bibi Monnahan
I did a lot of research before I finally decided on these. They have great traction for hiking through my forest and doing chores around the property. The leather lining is excellent. Well worth the money. They are heavy----not a light weight boot. They will surely last for many years.
