Amazing boots. Buy them now.

These boots are the best I've ever had. There is a small slit on the side to hold handcuff keys or a small pocketknife, which I don't use, but it might come in handy. After breaking them in, the Shield boots felt really comfortable on my feet. Size wasn't an issue. I recommend wearing somewhat thick socks, though just to maximize the comfort. 1000/5.I bought the boots from 5.11 directly, so I had to more than the Amazon.com price of 100 dollars. Shipping was free though, and my size wasn't available on Amazon.com anyway.What I'll use them for:-Summer hiking, such as wading through creeks.-General footwear-Snowboots-Rain or winter in general.There are nubs on the toes of these boots, which allow a person to crawl with extra speed and precision since they grip the ground. I've heard on other reviews that the nubs will rub off eventually, but it will take several years. The nubs only add to the boots' effectiveness. Durability is not cut back on these boots. The zipper too is solid.

Wide was not wide enough

511 is a reliable company and my coworkers swear by it. However I got some wide feet and even the wide width boot did not fit. The width may be true to size but if you have a EEEE wide foot don't get these. The seller was very accomodating however and I was able to get a great duty boot by Thorogood that fit perfectly. The return process was super easy too and communication great.
