4Solid Boots
By B.H.
I picked up a pair of these boots in preparation for hunt scheduled this fall. Sheep hunters seem to love them, so figured I would go for it. Sierra Trading Post has them on sale on occasion for significant discounts. They're great boots, but damn they need a lot of miles to break them in. On flat ground they are very very comfortable right out of the box. I really like the fact that they were so tall well. I was skeptical, but they were comfortable. When it comes to side-hilling, they're rock solid. Same with doing down hill. The extra support helps and the soles dig right in. I never had problems with them leaking. Wore them hunting in three days of rain last week and my feet were totally dry (temps in 40's). Then had three days of sun and my feet got wet from sweat over time. These were a little warm for the sunny days (60's-70's). Still comfortable, but stocks were wet. They breath, but they're still leather and don't breath that much. They're a little heavy relative to non-leather gortex/nylon hiking books, but not bad. In bad weather they would be awesome.I bought these 6 months before my hunt and did pretty regular hikes up the local mountains. At first I hated them on the steep terrain, especially when going straight up hill. They really ate up my heels and gave me blisters. The first time I wore them I made it a half mile up the mountain before I got blisters and switched to trail running sneakers. The second time I got a little further, etc. Eventually I could do a 6-7 mile hike with no blisters, but jeeze I bet it took 50 miles of short trips to break them in. It was rough. There was a point where I was going to ditch them, just too many blisters and I had already put 30 miles of hiking on them. I even bought a second pair of boots as "Plan B" (Asolo's which always treat my feet well as long as I get the wide version since they run narrow). I started alternating my hikes with the Asolos and Kenetreks. The Kenetreks slowly started to break in.I recommend getting their weatherproof sealer. It kept mine dry, but more importantly I think it softened the leather just enough to help break them in. Buy the full can of it. The small sample can isn't enough. These boots really soaked it up.Good luck!

5The Best.. That's all you need to know
By Alan Shinberg
There is no comparison. These are far and away the highest quality, warmest, most comfortable extreme weather boots you can own. The design is ingenious. No point missed, and the Italian craftsmanship is far and away better than any Eastern Hemisphere product you can buy.. Pricey yes, but you can't expect a BMW for the price of a Yugo..

2just a so so boot. not worth full price
By Vpgreear
The boot is just ok. I have hade meindl boots from cabelas that i would prefer. Fit is ok, but the rubber around the leather is already loose in places. I water proofed with kenetrek wax/oil only, but still felt like water seeped through, not just the gortex layer holding it in. They will last a little while, but a one time only purchase for me.
