Great fit!

This boot has just the right amount of arch support (I have a "normal" arch), are "Made in America" and the heel is just the right height. Normally I wear a 11.5 D, but I chose an EE in 11.5 because it gave extra toe room and the heel still felt real good, but to snug up the heel just a bit more I put in some inexpensive "heel cups" now the heel fits like a D width but I have the toe room of an EE and it's like having the best of both worlds. When walking in them the feeling is one of stability and comfort with little lateral movement. While these are considered a work boot I plan to wear them around town for "casual" affairs they are that comfortable and good looking.Before I bought these I really thought I was going to get the Chippewa Arroyo Packer but the arch support was too high and the heel is another 1/4" higher than the Double H and that combination made it feel like I was walking on my toes plus pushing against my arches.Never owned Double H or a packer, but I would certainley buy these again! "Made in America" was a big selling point for me here and the leather is very high quality and so are the ICE soles and stitching. Since I will not be wearing them for work I imagine they will last 20 years based on some of my other footwear performance made with similar quality materials.I purchased mine at Sheplers in Mesa, AZ (even though their web site does not even list the boot), they had a good price at $190 and I also had a 25% off a single item coupon so I only paid $142.50 plus tax.

Really Good, Near Great Boots.

I own three pairs of boots made by Double H, all Packers, so I obviously like them a lot.This is my second purchase of the boots. My first was the 9622 which is, sadly, no longer made: I love those boots and wish Double H would bring them back.What guided my buying choice were the following five factors: Waterproof, Made in USA, Price, Comfort, Quality.Price first: These boots are such good value I can recommend buying them on price alone.Country of Origin: It is increasingly difficult to purchase boots made right here in the good old USofA and I've about given up on making this a priorty. In fact, my most recent purchase was of boots made by Carolina that I thought were made here; alas, they are in nearly all sizes but mine. Sheesh.Waterproof: I need waterproof boots, these are waterproof, and these really are.Comfort: This is a comfortable boot; although not nearly as comfy as my first pair of Packers which I am going to hold on to until they are unpresentable in public just because they are so danged comfortable.The problem I have with them is that they did take about a month of wearing to break in because the tongue pressed uncomfortably against my foot.Also, they are much hotter in the summer than my first pair due to the excellent lining used in these boots which act to wick moisture away from one's feet and socks, I think. Because I live in a moderate climate it is not necessary for me to have warm boots. If you live in a colder climate these are going to suit you just fine.Quality: Part of the reason that I want Made in USA products is that I want high quality. These boots are high quality; however, unlike my first pair of Double H Packers which I have owned for at least five years without any quality problems whatsoever, these boots did have an unraveling stitch problem at one place on each of the boots right at the inside of the foot where the tongue is attached. I called Double H to get a warranty return or repair and they told me that since I had called in one month after the one year warranty period, they would not help me. I replied that I own three pairs of Double H boots but wouldn't ever buy another if they didn't help me, the service rep. relented and agreed to have a look at them if I sent them in at my own expense.I opted to take them to my local shoe service and they did the repair for me, beautifully I might add, for very little expense.Note that I wear boots on a daily basis and never wear these two days in a row.I recommmend these boots with minor reservations as noted.

The heel is just right, I have some Chippeawas that are great boots, but too much heel. Fit is perfect, the quality is exactly what I wanted.
