Decent boot

I purchased a pair of these at my local shoe store for significantly cheaper than the amazon price. Quality is good and the insulation works well. I stood in a snow bank for several minutes waiting for the cold to creep in, to my surprise it took a long time. Worth looking at especially if you have extra wide feet.

Amazon sent an email to review this boot so here goes. I purchased these boots primarily for two purposes, to keep the feet warm plowing snow on the tractor and to snowshoe.I am tough on boots, I hike in rough rocky terrain at least 3-5 miles a day, and go through several pairs a year. Though I didn't purchase these for hiking I decided today to give them a test most will never face 'hunting'. It was -13 degrees F when I left this morning with a windchill of -29 degrees F. Cold but not extreme (I live about 10 clicks south of the Quebec border).Yes, they are comfortable and keep the feet warm, but what impresses me most about these boots is the tread. There is a light snow covering with ice underneath and I did not slip once. I didn't go across the beaver ponds or the brooks, I wouldn't without my spike boots, but for the trails they are the best I have come across. They give confidence.I stopped and watched two woodpeckers stripping an elm for about 20 minutes and noticed no creeping coldness, so for the average hunter in 30 to 40 degree F weather these should work out fine.Also, the ankle pivot is very good and it is double stitched, the one's that are single stitched have come apart on me.What I don't like.The laces are 72's, you can barely tie a knot, let alone double knot the laces. They should be at least 84's or 96's. These boot designers must have never had a lace come undone or cut one on a rock. Fortunately, this can easily be corrected, but shouldn't have to.I wasn't going to use these for hiking in the cold, but have decided they are the best I own. Good job Rocky, and thanks Amazon.
